Changes sought for Merit Awards

Gov. Jennifer Granholm will propose Tuesday that Michigan students who finish two years of college would receive up to $4,000 from the state to help them complete a bachelor's degree or pay off community college costs. The scholarship would replace the current $2,500 Merit Award scholarship for high school graduates who do well on state standardized tests.
